Forrest Riley Jones, III, born on November 29, 1952, in Mercedes, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas. He dedicated 35 years of his professional life as a Maintenance Supervisor at Chevron-Phillips, a role that showcased his technical skill and unwavering commitment to his craft.
A devoted member of his community, Forrest served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Groves, where he played an integral role in fostering spiritual growth among congregants. He was one of six teachers of the Adult #3 Sunday School Class and initiated a men's bible study, showing his dedication to teaching and guiding others in their faith. His contributions to the church were a testament to his belief in the strength of community and fellowship.
Forrest will be lovingly remembered by his family. He is survived by his wife, Janet Ann Boudreaux Jones; his son, Forrest R. Jones IV, and daughter-in-law, Rosario of Montgomery, Texas; his daughter, Deidre Jones Faulk, and son-in-law, Clifford of Port Neches, Texas; and his son, Robert Jones, and daughter-in-law, Summer of Groves, Texas. As a grandfather, he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren: Dacia Wills and her husband Derek; Teah Jones; Tyler Faulk; Caleb Faulk; Brandon Jones and his wife Rachel; Austin Jones; Christian Jones and his wife Chloey; Mason Weatherly; Kiley Weatherly, along with eight great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.
Forrest is also survived by his sisters, Camille Jones and Belle Jones, who will forever celebrate his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest R. Jones, Jr. and Patsy Ruth Hogan Jones, and his brother, Barkley Jones.
The family will conduct a visitation at First Baptist Church, located at 4000 Grant Avenue, Groves, Texas, on August 26, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. The interment will take place at Memory Gardens in Nederland.
Forrest Riley Jones, III leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His contributions to his family, faith community, and profession will be cherished and remembered for years to come.
