Forrest Clyde Wooddell, born on February 13, 1959, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. At the age of four, he moved with his father and siblings to Green Bank, West Virginia, where he learned to build a life rooted in nature, family, and kindness.
The beloved son of Lois Jacobs Wooddell and Clyde Wardel Wooddell, Forrest became a true outdoorsman, never happier than when he was in the woods. An avid bear and deer hunter, he found peace and purpose in nature, carrying on traditions that connected him to the land and those who came before him. Whether it was tracking game, sharing stories around a campfire, or simply breathing in the mountain air, the wilderness was his second home.
Forrest was more than just a father and grandfather-he was a guiding light, a protector, and a steady presence in the lives of those he loved. His daughters, Ashley Wooddell and Brandy Wooddell, were his pride and joy. To his grandchildren-Cedric Wooddell, Luke Blechl, Halayna Blechl, and Keiara Vandevender-he was not only a grandfather but also a father figure, always there with wisdom, laughter, and unwavering support. His legacy will continue in the life of his future great-granddaughter, Alice Mable Wooddell, whose arrival he deeply looked forward to.
He is also survived by his loving partner in life, Starleen Wooddell, who stood by his side through life's journey; and his sisters, Sharon Wooddell Oakes, and Pamela Wooddell, Robin Wooddell, desc, who shared in his life's memories and adventures.
Forrest will be remembered for his generous spirit, his strength, and the quiet way he showed love through his actions. His presence was a steady force, and his absence will be deeply felt. Though he has left this earth, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know and love him.
A simple man, a life well-lived, a love well-given-Forrest Clyde Wooddell will never be forgotten.
