Forrest “Kent” Zuber, born August 8, 1940, passed away on December 13, 2025, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.
Kent was the youngest of nine children, born in Anthony, Kansas, to Joseph and Nellie Zuber. From the very beginning, he stood out for his quick wit and lighthearted charm, often turning ordinary moments into unforgettable ones.
He was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend—roles he embraced throughout his life. Kent was preceded in death by his two beloved sons, Gregory Zuber and Brent Zuber, both of Texas, as well as his siblings Betty Jo Zuber Irwin, Norma Zuber Boozer, Phillip Dean Zuber Sr., Garland Lee Zuber Sr., Dorothy Zuber Perkins, Gordon Zuber, and Charles Zuber.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Chelsea Morris (Jeremiah) of Fort Worth, Texas; his great-grandchildren, Jayden and Addalyn; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother, Calvin Zuber (Bonnie) of Texas.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Frances Maness of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Kent’s devoted companion and trusted friend, who remained faithfully by his side until the end.
Kent was a successful and respected businessman. He was a co-founder of the family business, Mr. Zip convenience stores, with locations throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. After the business was sold, Kent continued his entrepreneurial journey by opening his own chain of convenience stores, Bee Line, along with several other business ventures.
A graveside service to celebrate Kent’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will take place from12:00 to 1:45 PM at Floyd’s Mortuary Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to one of Kent’s favorite charities, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Mobile Meals, or to a charity of your choice.
“I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.”
