Frances Louise Hadley Antone peacefully departed this earthly life on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at the age of 97..She was the fifth and last living child born to the union of Mrs. Eva Moore Hadley and Mr. Green Gillisipie Hadley. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Esther Hadley Horton, Ruth Hadley Hunt, Edith Mae Harris, and her brothers Alex Hadley, Bubba Hadley, and John W. Harris Sr.
Frances accepted Christ in her life at an early age at Ebenezer AME Zion Church where she actively served in various capacities including Deaconess, Gospel Choir member and soloist, Youth Department Director, Sunday School teacher, and Young Women's Progressive Club officer. She spearheaded the committees to purchase a steeple and a cornerstone for the church and she purchased robes for the Youth Choir.
She graduated in 1945 from Dunbar High School in Mobile where she was the head majorette for the school's Marching Band. In the eighth grade she was told to memorize and recite the poem "The Night Before Christmas" and she was able to recite it in its entirety well into her 90's. She united in marriage on August 22, 1947 with Mr. Edward Harvey Antone Sr. and to this union was born five children. She furthered her education at Alabama State College in Montgomery, Alabama where they resided with the President of the college and his wife while receiving their education. While her children were in school she always supported them in their achievements and activities and was always selected as the Room Mother for their classes..
She was employed at Brookley Field, Sears, Leona B. Warren Daycare Center, Brazier Elementary, and she retired from Westlawn Elementary as a Computer instructor.
Her hobbies and pastimes included but were not limited to were reading, writing, Scrapbooking, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, sending cards, giving gifts, cooking, baking cakes, traveling, shopping, decorating, watching JEOPARDY, researching family history, conversing with others and spending time with her family. She enjoyed dressing for different occasions and was often seen donning her signature sequined berets and fancy church hats. She enjoyed hosting and attending the HADLEY family reunions that were held in different states.
She loved holidays and was always well prepared for them. Beautiful inside and out, she will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile, generous nature and bubbly personality. She leaves to treasure and cherish her memories five devoted children and their spouses: Edward H. Antone Jr. (Jacqueline), Sheryl Antone Yates( Frank), Diane Antone Broughton ( Rodney Sr.), Bruce Hadley Antone( Debra), Orlando, FL, and Keith Donald Antone(Rhonda Lynne ) Las Vegas, NV. Six devoted grandchildren, Sharmaine (Michael) Thompson, CO, Kimberly (Shannon) Deloach, CO, Erica M. Yates, Ashley N. Yates, Rodney(Nicole) Broughton Jr., LA, Kaylyn H. Antone, WA, Eight great- grandchildren, Taryn DeLoach, CO, Dallon Deloach, CO, Keelan Thompson, CO, Koby Thompson, CO, August Yates, Ashton Yates, Marquis Rivers, and Peyton Rivers. Three sister in laws, Irene Antone, Earma Antone, Judina Antone. A devoted niece, Sandra Horton Teague(Eugene), OH, Former Basil Street (Campground) neighbors where she was called "Miss Frances" and was often referred to as the neighborhood mom. Caring staff and residents of Cottonwood Senior Apartments, Loving nieces and nephews of the Antone, Horton, Harris and Hadley families where she was affectionately called " Ain't Frances". Two very devoted caregivers, Lenonna Phillips and Jacinda Phillips.
She will forever be missed, remembered, and loved by all who knew her.
