Our beloved Frances M. Barela passed away Dec 26th, 2025, in her home. Frances was born in Durango Co. to Joe and Esther Sandoval. Frances graduated from Bloomfield high school and went on to marry her beloved husband, Johnny. Barela, whom she was married to for 45 years. They had 6 children. Shawn Barela, Crystal Brooks, Josh Brooks, Joseph Barela, Baby Johnny and Amanda Barela. Fran led a beautiful life filled with happiness, laughter and love. She loved to cook for her family on the weekends and holidays and is known for her silly sense of humor. Fran was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Frances is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years Johnny Barela, their kids Shawn, Josh, Crystal, Joseph, and Amanda Barela, her 11 grandkids and 9 great grandkids. She was proceeded in death by her father and mother Joe and Esther Sandoval, her son Baby Johnny and her siblings Gerold, Leroy, Norma and Gloria. Frances will forever remain in our hearts and memories.
Pallbearers: Shawn and Joseph Barela, Genesis Trejo, Arianna Harrison, Demetria Brooks, and Joaquin Trejo. Honorary: Dominick Archuleta, Gabe Archuleta, Elizabeth Barela, and Kendra Brooks.
Visitation and Viewing will be held Saturday January 10th, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 307 N. Church St. Bloomfield, New Mexico, The Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:30 AM followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, Interment will follow the Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Bloomfield, NM
