It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Goins Barnes, who left us on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Frances was born on April 8,1944, in Gaston County, NC a daughter of the late Leonard and Nell Shull Goins. She lived a life full of love and dedication to her family and friends. Frances was a daughter, wife, sister, mother, aunt and friend. Her most cherished title was being "Franmaw" to Tucker and Quinn, her great nephew and niece. Spending time outside with her flowers, birds and butterflies was a favorite pastime. She will be remembered for her fondness of friends, quick-witted personality, and ability to laugh at a good joke.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Billy Neill, their infant son, William and five siblings Charles Kistler, Bill Kistler, Betty Joe Gilbert, Jane Bumgardner and Tommy Goins.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Larry Barnes of the home, her daughter Debbie and son-in-law Chris Gagliardo of Charlotte as well as three brothers Harold, Bobby and Ray Goins all of Cherryville.
Her family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her wonderful health care team at Hospice of Cleveland County who have become family during her extended illness.
A graveside memorial service, to celebrate the life of Frances, will be held at 5:30PM on Friday, August 29, 2025 at City Memorial Cemetery in Cherryville.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations can be made to VIA Health Partners, Hospice of Cleveland County 951 Wendover Height Drive, Shelby, NC 28150-3565.
