Frances N. Batteas, 97, passed away February 27, 2026, in Sweetwater. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at 4th and Elm Church of Christ with Ted Bayse officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Frances was born near Waco, Texas on September 10, 1928, to William E. and Mary Katherine Neeley. Frances married Lester Ray Batteas, Sr., on February 28, 1946, in Dallas, Texas. Frances went overseas with Lester while he was in the military and worked in the commissary. After Lester was discharged, they moved to Sweetwater in 1951 and began Batteas Construction Company. Frances worked alongside Lester during the building and as a gopher getting supplies and etc. After retiring from building houses (over 100 homes) Frances worked for various lunchrooms with Sweetwater I.S.D. for over twenty years until her retirement. Frances is survived by a son, Lester Batteas, Jr. and a son-in-law John D. Goodnight. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester Batteas, October 13, 2019, daughters, Shari Leach June 10, 1995, and Rita Joyce Goodnight, March 1, 2013.Memorial may be made to Cornerstone Christian School, West Texas Rehab, Christian Homes or the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Rolling Plains Home Healthcare and Interim Hospice for all their help. Pallbearers will be Mark Jones, Kary Kent, Ken Nevins, Billy Whisenant, Scott Whittenburg, Blair Gibson. Honorary Pallbearers are Eddie Weaver, Joe Paty, Skeet Kimbrell.
