Graveside services for Frances "Jim" Marbut Berg, 89, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024 in the Covington Cemetery with Jim Cleaver officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Nathan Robinson, Chance Berg, Harley Gilbert, and Chaney Berg.

Jim was born in Covington on April 21, 1935, one of six children, to Robert and Plura (Miller) Marbut. She passed away Monday, April 21, 2024, after a day spent surrounded by family and friends celebrating her birthday.

Jim graduated from Covington High School before meeting and marrying the love of her life, Jerry Berg. Jim and Jerry lived in England where Jerry served in the USAF, before returning to the United States with their son, Eric. They lived in Missouri, San Antonio and Laredo, where their daughter, Tracy Lynn, was born. After Jerry's military retirement, the family moved back to Covington and then settled in Cleburne.

Jim was a stay at home mom, sewing beautiful clothes for her children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She also handmade Barbie clothes for Tracy and her nieces. In 1973, Jim went to work at Walls Industries as the main receptionist to help Eric buy his first motorcycle and pursue his love of motocross. She truly was a Moto-Momma and was able to watch her grandson and great granddaughter carry on the racing tradition.

Jim was close to her brothers and sister and their families. Her home was always open. She loved the outdoors and she worked in her yard up until a few months before her death. She loved living "on the creek". One of her favorite hobbies was her fresh and saltwater fish tanks which delighted her grandchildren.

She was fun and loved a good party with country music and lots of dancing, and a game of knock poker or a Cowboy game could always be found for family and friends. Jim was always packed and ready when anyone said: Casino! She loved Willie Nelson and Ray Price and many can tell a tale of her concert antics. Jim was also a talented ceramic artist and amateur photographer.

She was a loving mother and when Jim loved you, she loved you fiercely...and boy did she love her four grandboys. They were such a joy to her but she never hesitated to tell them like it was....and they adored her. Her love and guidance over her family will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Berg; brothers, Virgil, Eddy "Dee", Louis, and Tom Marbut, and sister, Nell Kelly.

Jim is survived by her son, Eric Berg and wife, Stevie; daughter, Tracy Somero and husband, Scott; grandsons, Nathan Robinson, Chance Berg, Harley Gilbert, and Chaney Berg; great grandchildren, Trinity Robinson, Hunter Gilbert, Piper Berg, and Journey Gilbert; nephews, Terry Marbut, Larry Marbut, Gary Marbut, Monty Marbut, and Virgil Cook; nieces, Sherry Fowler, Jackie Taylor, Becky Kelly, DeLana Harvey, Angie Penix, and Amy Kelly-Jackson and their families; extended family members and friends.

Jim's family would like to thank the Staff of Heritage Trails for their care of her during her recent rehab stay and the amazing nurses of Community Hospice House for taking such sweet care of her during her final hours. Eric and Stevie send a special thanks to their family at Rosser Funeral Home for their love and care.
