John Berg Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Zacherl Funeral Home - Fond du Lac on Feb. 19, 2026.
John M. Berg, 92, of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at The Meadows of Fond du Lac on February 18, 2026. He was born on December 30, 1933, in Campbellsport, Wisconsin, to Arnold and Olive Berg.

Jack spent over 30 years driving semi-trucks across the U. S. and into Canada for Mercury Marine. He believed in hard work and took pride in his job. He believed that there was dignity in all work. He took a leadership role in organizing Mercury truck drivers into the Teamsters Union in 1969.

He married Barb, the love of his life for 68 years. He was devoted to his faith and his family. A devote Catholic, Jack raised his children in the Church and lived his beliefs quietly but faithfully each day. He was a true family man who cared deeply for his children and grandchildren, always happiest when they were near.

He was an avid sports fan and hunter. At Campbellsport High School he was a star football player and homecoming king. After graduation in 1954 he stayed active by water skiing, hunting and golfing. He especially enjoyed the camaraderie of hunting with his boyhood friends or family. Jack was a man who saw the good in life and in everyone he met - and he rarely did so without a smile and a laugh.

Jack will be remembered for his leadership skills, intelligence and his commitment to family and friends. He believed that hard work should end in celebration and happiness.

John married Barbara on October 1, 1957: she preceded him in death. Also preceded by his parents, four sisters, and one brother.

John will be dearly missed by his children: Judy (David) Twohig, Richard (Jean) Berg, Michael (Nancy) Berg Sr., Jane Berg, and Lawrence (Tina) Berg; his grandchildren: Laura Wanlass, Molly Westbrook, Nicholas Twohig, Kimberly Gaddie, Christie Weinberg, Jennifer Ludwigson, Michael Berg Jr., Ragan Berg, and John "JJ" Berg; and his great-grandchildren: Kyra Wanlass, Michael Westbrook, Alexa Westbrook, Kaden Twohig, Mason Twohig, Finn Twohig, Nels Ludwigson, and Olive Ludwigson. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Services: John's family invites relatives and friends on Saturday February 21, 2026 to the Zacherl Funeral Home for Public Visitation from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM. A Liturgy of the Word will follow at 11:30 AM. Burial will take place at St. Charles Cemetery immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations to Holy Family Church.

The family extends their gratitude to the staff at The Meadows for their compassionate care.
