Glen Thompson Obituary

Glen Richard Thompson, age 66, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side. He entered eternal life on February 18, 2026, after an 11-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born on August 11, 1959, to Richard and Shirlee (Manowske) Thompson. Glen graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School in 1977. After graduating, Glen completed his electrical apprenticeship in 1981 from MPTC. He started his career with Schommer Electric, then a few years later started his long career at the City of Fond du Lac. He completed his Master Electrician training in 1991 and finished his career as the Electrical Inspector for the City of Fond du Lac and local townships.

He was a bachelor most of his life, but on August 23, 2008, he married his best friend and love of his life Tracy Pausma. He not only gained a wife, but he gained two children and grandchildren completing his life and our family. It was amazing how he grew into his role as head of family, providing love, patience and advice to all.

Glen was a man of few words, but when he did say something, it was either meaningful or funny. His sparkling blue eyes and beautiful smile will be remembered by so many, many friends and family. If you were lucky enough to have Glen as a friend, you had a friend for life. He helped many friends with electrical work, building projects, etc.

When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed life to the fullest. He especially liked riding his Harley’s. He was a phenomenal motocross racer and hill climber, taking 1st place and obtaining numerous trophies-too many to count. His other trophies come in record size bucks and antlers. He was an avid hunter, both gun and bow deer seasons, ducks, and grouse. He spent quality time with his friends and family shooting clays, trail riding, snowmobiling, bicycling, and anything that kept him moving. He did enjoy relaxing at local pubs. Health and fitness was always important to him, he was a longtime member of the YMCA, and he loved walking our dogs, Chloe and Billie.

He loved his projects at “home”, “up north” and “the Dells”. He loved sitting outside on the deck with his wife Tracy, enjoying nature including all the birds and wildlife he fed. He enjoyed sunrises and sunsets and as much as activity that he could squeeze in between.

About 11 years ago he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. An unforgiving disease that slowly took “our Glen” away. The funny witty man became slower with his “one-liners” although he still would get an occasional “one-liner” in almost to the end. We would see a rare full grin and sparkle in his eyes. At the very end the sparkle was gone and only one brief opening of his eyes before he passed away peacefully.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Tracy; two step-children, Joe (Amanda) Ebling and Anna Marie Ebling; grandchildren, Hailey and Caleb Ebling, Landon, Izzy, and Nora Karls; two grand puppies, Addie and Zoey; his brother, Neil (Patti) Thompson; nephew, Jonathon Thompson; niece, Jennifer (Josh Wyno) Thompson; great nieces, Khaleesi and Ashlynn; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Shirlee Thompson; both maternal and paternal grandparents; his “good dogs”, Chloe and Billie.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the Fond du Lac Cathedral, 51 W. Division St, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM. Cremation has taken place.

Special thanks to those who cared for Glen during his Alzheimer’s journey including, all the staff at Harbor Haven Snug Unit, Sandy and Heather (SSM Hospice), and neighbor Darwin Will (Comfort Keepers) and Ginger and Mikayla (Home Helpers).
