Frances Yvonne Bufkin

Services for Frances Yvonne Bufkin, a lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, La., will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 10 o'clock at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Brother Joe Thibeau officiating. Yvonne passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the age of 80. She was a native of Pleasant Hill and made a life there with her beloved husband R. A. (Buddy) Bufkin, Sr. of 64 years. Yvonne was a long time member of the First Baptist Church. She lived life with determination, a kind word and a ready smile. She was known for her excellent cooking and immaculate house keeping. She worked at Pleasant Hill School many years where she touched the lives of many young people then and for years to follow. Later she worked side by side with her husband at Jeems Bayou Production Company. Through years of illness she remained strong and uplifted, a strength she gave God credit for, a true inspiration for those whose life she touched. Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents Mr. & Mrs. Haywood Stevens, her sister Martha Faye Elliott, brothers- in-law James Joel Elliott, Charles Andrews, and Jasper (Bea) Shingleton. Sister-in-law Marilyn (Bid) Shingleton. Left to cherish her precious memory are her husband R. A. (Buddy) Bufkin, Sr., son, Ray Bufkin, Jr. and wife Melanie and daughter Vickie Collins and husband Imack. Grandchildren Justin Bufkin and wife Kelli, Cameron Collins, Hayden Collins, Alexandra Collins, Hannah McGinty and husband Ben. Great grandchildren Ryder, Levi and Addie McGinty and Hudson Bufkin Step-Grandchildren Dustin Ferguson and husband Doug and Halston Johnson and husband Kevin Step-great grandchildren Dawson and Draydin Ferguson, Zaylon and Zyla Johnson Sisters Bobbie Jeane Andrews and Patsy Davis and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Bufkin, Cameron Collins, Hayden Collins, Seth Waldon, Jay Elliott, and Haywood Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Frank Moore and David Barnhill. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
