Frances D. Chew-Jenkins

 

Those we love remain with us, for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade because a loved one’s gone; those we love can never be more than a thought apart; 

for as long as there is memory, they’ll live on in the heart.

 

Frances D. Chew-Jenkins was born on October 12, 1944, in Anderson, South Carolina to her parents, Alphonso Stoudemire, Sr. and Melvenia Webb Stoudemire.   She was the first child and only girl born in the family.  She was raised surrounded by her brothers, James, William, Alphonso, Jr. and Darnell. The family eventually relocated Colorado and Frances graduated from Aurora Central High School.  She furthered her education by attending                    Southwest College located in Los Angeles, California                    .

 

Frances was the proud mother of a son, she named Nathaniel.  She was a loving and devoted mother, who took great pride in the care and nurture of her son.  Shortly after relocating to Colorado in the 1994, Frances met the love of her life, Varnell Jenkins. An additional source of joy and pride in her life was her grandson, Erand.  

 

Frances was employed with Enterprise Car Rental as a Car Damage Control Specialist.   She was hard-working, dedicated, and performed her duties with a spirit of excellence.  She retired as a Senior Executive Administrative Assistant after over twenty-five years of faithful service.

 

A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Frances was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado for over thirty years.  She joined the church under the leadership of Pastor W.C. Jones, Emeritus  She was a member of the Mass Choir, the Vice President of the Meet and Greet Ministry, the Missionary Society, and she enjoyed working with the youth and volunteering wherever needed.  

 

Frances was a well-known fashionista. She was fun-loving, enjoyed life, and those she encountered.   She enjoyed shopping and modeled for many of Mae’s Boutique Fashion Shows. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman.  To know Frances was to love her.

 

She is preceded in death by husband, Varnell Jenkins on March 1, 2023; parents, Alphonso and Melvenia Stoudemire; brothers, William and Alphonso Stoudemire; and sister, Joann Benjamin.

 

Frances D. Chew-Jenkins departed this life on January 24, 2024, in her home in Denver, Colorado.  Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her son, Nathaniel A. Richmond; 2 brothers, James M. and Darnel L Stoudemire; grandson, Erand N. Richmond all of Denver, Colorado; nieces and nephews include Karim, Miya, Stoudemire, Malikah Graves, Aaron, Jerome, Brittany, Briana Carter, Wardell Brown, Khalil Butler, Sr., Kristen Casimier, Michael A. Benjamin; cousins, Edward Pruitt Jasmine, Patricia, Jacqueline, and Maxine Williams, Darvin Williams, Lisa Webb, and John Watts; aunt, Hazel Webb; additional family and friends include the Wakefield’s, the Jenkins, and  Glenn Younger, Linda Benjamin
