Frances DeHerrera of Rocky Ford passed away on January 30, 2023 at the age of 83 in Pueblo. Frances was born in Valmora, New Mexico to Samuel and Gertrude Gurule. The family moved to Rocky Ford when she was in grade school. She went to a dance at Mercury Hall when she was in high school and met Toby DeHerrera who would become the love of her life and they married when she was 18. She was a house cleaner and worked for families around town. She became very good friends with the people she worked for. She was an active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, she would volunteer working in the kitchen, as well as working at the food bank. She enjoyed working in her yard, growing flowers and cooking. Whenever anyone would come to visit, she always wanted to feed them. When it was someone's birthday she would bake their favorite cake or pie for them. She was a wonderful mother who taught her children good habits and to be kind to everyone. She loved seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and just loved being with them.
Frances is survived by her 4 children: Carol Lundquist, Susan DeHerrera, Thomas DeHerrera all of Rocky Ford, and Andrew DeHerrera of Denver, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother Jim Gurule, sister Tonie Dominguez, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Erlinda and Jose Lopez, Gloria Lopez, and Vita DeHerrera, as well as a special cousin: Dolly Lucero and her son Mario Lucero, and Frances's dear childhood friend Grace Martinez. She was preceded in death by her husband Toby DeHerrera, son Toby DeHerrera and grandchildren: Toby DeHerrera, Jr., Amy Espinoza, her parents, brother Samuel Gurule, and sister: Helen Norris.
