Lynell Johnston was born on January 2, 1973, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, to Gale Briggs. On February 2nd, 2026, Lynell passed away in her home, in Olney Springs, Colorado.
Lynell found pride and joy in motherhood. She enjoyed raising her sons. She always did everything in her power to make sure her family was taken care of. After her boys were all grown up Lynell found that love again in her granddaughter Summer. Lynell was a social butterfly who loved meaningful conversations with her friends and shared her kindness with everyone she met. She enjoyed volunteering as one of Santa’s Elves for Toys for Tots program. She cherished her cats and dogs, loved dancing, camping, and spending time with her family.
Her family, friends, and all who knew her will deeply miss her warmth, laughter, and loving spirit. The family wishes to thank everyone who came together to support them during this difficult time.
Lynell is survived by her beloved mother, Gale Mason; sister, Mindy Green; her nieces and nephew, Heather, Hailey, and Joven; stepmother, Debbie Green; uncle, Larry Green, and many other cousins including Stephanie Clark. Lynell will forever be remembered as a loving mother to her two sons; Brandon Sky and Justin Starr; daughter-in-law, Alexzandra Lovins; and granddaughter, Summer Starr. She also leaves behind many siblings, cousins, and extended family on the Likes side. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Shirley Hilburn; her father, Robert Likes; her stepfathers, Joe Green and Larry Mason; her aunts, Roberta Green and Loretta Green; and her cousin, Ashely Green.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the River of Life in Ordway, Co on February 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Afterwards there will be a burial ceremony will be held after at the Fowler Cemetery.
