Alice “Arlene” Mizer, 94, of Kim, Colorado, formerly of Branson, Colorado passed away on February 28, 2026, at the Fowler Health Care Center. She was born on February 8, 1932, in La Junta, Colorado to Julius Adin and Alice Elizabeth (Lloyd) Palmer. Arlene married William “Bill” V. Mizer in May of 1949 at the Palmer Home; he preceded her death on November 27, 2017.
William and Arlene purchased a farm and ranch land on Butte Creek north of Kim where they made their home and welcomed three children. In 1950, Adin Frederick Mizer was born, Vincent David Mizer was born in 1951, and Billee Jean Mizer arrived in 1953. Sewing brought great joy to Arlene. She was a member of the Ladies Rainbow Club that brought community ladies together sewing quilts and swapping and sharing family own recipes. Arlene was an amazing cook; everything was homemade from scratch. Everything she made was with love especially her homemade bread.
Arlene is survived by her children, Vincent “Vin” (Bev) Mizer of Fowler, Colorado and Billee Sumpter of Branson, Colorado; grandchildren, Michelle (Ron) Wait, Bart (Casey) Mizer, Heath (Suzie) Mizer, Heather (Mike) Sarnowski, Cheri (Jason) Kraft, Justin (Codi) Sumpter, Jeremey (Dusk) Sumpter; Great-Grandchildren, Kaili (Michael) Kirkendall, Kara (Wade) Kurtz, Megan Wait, Hadden Mizer, Annabelle Mizer, Olivia Mizer, Morrison “Mo” Sarnowski, Mila Sarnowski, Kyli Kraft, Tyler Kraft, Matya Kraft, Clay Kraft, Jacee Sumpter, Caleb Sumpter, Destry Sumpter, Cole Sumpter, Jagger Sumpter, Adin William (Jacey) Mizer, Jackson (Alyssa) Mizer, Zadee (Jaxon) McAden and Jett Mizer; Great- Great Grandchildren, Charli Wait, Twins, James & Sawyer Kirkendall, Sloane Mizer, Hudson & Saige Mizer and one on the way; Sister, Mary Jones and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Arlene is preceded by her husband, Bill Mizer, son, Adin Mizer, Parents, Julius & Alice Mizer, brother, Zach (Helen) Palmer, sister, Ruth (Bobby) Goodrich and brother-in-law, Fred Jones.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Darryl Johnson of West Assembly Church officiating. Visitation will be held prior to service from 9:00 a.m. to 11a.m. on March 9, 2026. Burial will be held at Springfield Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Kim Area Volunteer Fire Department, 115 Las Animas Avenue, Kim, Colorado, 81049 direct or through the funeral home.
