Frances Eckenrode, age 98, of Cuyahoga Falls, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on Monday November 17, 2025. Born on February 13, 1927, in Meridian, Mississippi, Frances lived a life filled with love, creativity, and a deep passion for the world around her.
Frances was a devoted family matriarch, known for her unwavering love and support for her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Anderson, along with her cherished grandchildren: Todd Maddamma, Cari Castillo, Evan Maddamma, Sara Jonas, Emily Palmer, Matthew Anderson, and Nathan Anderson. Additionally, Frances leaves behind many great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and warmth.
Throughout her life, Frances was known not only for her love of family but also for her passion for animals. An avid animal lover, she found joy in caring for and connecting with animals of all kinds and leaves behind her loving Kaiser.
Her hobbies were diverse, reflecting her creative spirit. Frances enjoyed crafting and sewing, sharing her skills with those around her. She also had a talent for painting, bringing color and beauty to her surroundings. An enthusiastic card player, Frances found happiness in bringing family and friends together for friendly games. Among her many interests, she loved bird watching, spending peaceful moments in nature admiring the beauty of her feathered friends.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Don Eckenrode, and her daughters Belinda Eckenrode and Lori Gualandri. She is also reunited in spirit with her brother Freeman James and sister Nora Gurski, along with her special friend Charlotte Slovisky.
A visitation will be held in Frances's honor on November 24, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 131 N Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at 2:00 PM at New Tallmadge Cemetery, situated at 112 South Ave, Tallmadge, Ohio.
Frances Eckenrode will be remembered for her loving spirit, her creativity, and her heartfelt connections with family and friends. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
