Dr. Frances Fiore Obituary
Dr. Frances Fiore, 64,of Wall Township, New Jersey, entered peacefully into eternal life into the loving arms of Jesus, her Lord & Savior on Friday, October 24, 2025.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of over 17 years David Fiore. Frances was born in Bayonne, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Carmela (nee Russo) and Frederick Fittanto. She is survived by her younger sister Rose Fittanto and was a loving Aunt to Jon Sollitti.
Fran was happy playing records and singing along with her favorite songs from a young age. She enjoyed playing the violin in her grammar school orchestra under the direction of Mr. Walter Koczur. Fran practiced hours to get the music just right. She also enjoyed piano, voice lessons and modern dance while a college student. She often recalled an experience trying out and being considered for a role as "Sandy" in her college's production of "Grease". She loved going to the beach with her family as a youngster and later with friends and her husband David. She also enjoyed going to the local Bayonne (16th street) pool with her family and her dear friend Anna. Later, she enjoyed many fun times at the Howell Point Swim Club with her husband Dave. Fran had great fun dancing at various events including weddings and parties.
Fran & Dave also enjoyed many holidays celebrating the New Year dancing in Cape May. Fran & Dave also showed their adventurous side by participating in parasailing and zip lining. Fran, along with Dave, also loved traveling together enjoying fun trips to Disney World and Disney cruises. Fran loved to make people laugh whenever possible. Some of her friends and patients would say that she was comedic in nature, however, rather than performing in front of a group, she preferred to make people laugh on a one-to-one basis.
Fran was interested in nutrition and physical fitness and incorporated both into her daily life while encouraging others to do the same. Fran loved cooking together with Dave and enjoyed attending nutrition seminars and cooking classes when possible. Fran & Dave shared a wonderful marriage and were sure to make time for their weekly "date night" @ Nicholas Barrel & Roost where they enjoyed time together and with friends and family. She also loved spending free time with her pet canines June Lee, a full breed Shih Tzu and Lucy, a mixed breed Shih Tzu/Bischon.
Fran and Dave were blessed to renew their marriage vows with Fr. Brian Butch at St. Anselm's Church in 2023. They also felt fortunate to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary following vow renewal with a special group of friends and family.
She was pre-deceased by her treasured grandparents Rose & Michael Russo, her Aunt Katie & Uncle Louis, and her Godmother Julia DiMarzio. She was also pre-deceased by several special Aunts and Uncles with whom she spent many happy times.
She is survived by her loving & supportive Uncle and Godfather Rocco Russo and his wife, Diane (Fran's Aunt Diane). She is also survived by her cherished cousins including the DiMarzio, Russo & Massaro families with whom she celebrated many happy holidays & occasions.
Fran completed her Bachelor of Science degree cum laude at Jersey City State College in 1984. While there, she received a special award: The Evelyn Kivy Rosenberg Scholarship for Academic Achievement in Biology. She then went on to pursue a doctorate degree at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) in New York City, earning her D.P.M. (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine) degree in 1988. While a student, Fran was a delegate from her class to the American Podiatric Medical Student's Association (APMSA) and became co-editor of "First Step - The Official Publication of the APMSA". She also served as liaison from APMSA to the National Health Council in Washington, D.C.
After completing hospital and clinical training, she became double board certified in both Podiatric Medicine and Surgery and worked in hospital and multi-specialty clinic settings as well as private practice for a total of 35 years. Prior to her illness, she was proudly employed as an attending Podiatrist at the Veterans Administration New Jersey Healthcare System.
Her husband David, would like to thank Fr. Brian Butch, Fr. Tom Morrow, Sr. Diane Matera, Judy & Steve Raymus, Pat & Ross Spracklen, Dr. & Mrs. David George, Dr. Marvin Blumenfraucht, Lisa & Doug Hynoski, India Bruton, Brenda Werzinger, Lesley Sims, Christina & Kurt Kalenak, Ellen & Christopher Nagle, Susan Wall & Dave Zimmerman and Stephanie & Obe Fernandez for their supportive friendship & fervent prayers for Fran's healing and recovery. Fran also often expressed appreciation for her longtime friends Anna & Robert Raslowsky and Ellen & Vince Hare, Dr. Carmen Otalora-Levin and Dr. Jane Neuman for their support, encouragement, generosity and prayers. David would also like to thank Sky and Maria Cowan for their friendship and support during Fran's illness. Fran was a parishioner of St. Anselm Church in Tinton Falls, NJ.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Wednesday at the Fiore-Buckley Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road in Oakhurst, Ocean Township.
