Frances Lorane(Newland) Graham, 91, passed from this earth while at home on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Frances was born on December 29, 1932, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, to her parents, James DeWitt and Zilpha Ann (Griffin) Newland.
Frances graduated from Jenks High School in 1949 and received her Bachelor's degree from Northeastern State in 1952. Frances met the love of her life (on a double date), Ray Thomas Graham, and they were married on November 9, 1954 in Jenks, OK. Together, they had two children, Jeffery Ray Graham and Danna Lorane (Graham) Garland. They shared many wonderful years as a family on the family farm in Glenpool and at the Grand Lake cabin until Ray's passing in December, 1986.
Frances dedicated many years of her life working at Jenks Public Schools, eventually retiring as a secretary. She had a passion for gardening, flowers, birdwatching, and reading, all which brought her much joy throughout her life. Later on in life, she took much pleasure watching - and ordering - from QVC. She was especially proud of the happy and successful adults her grandchildren have become and would brag on them when given the opportunity.
She is preceded in death by her father, James DeWitt Newland; her mother, Zilpha Ann (Griffin) Newland; sister Phyllis Newland Atkison; brother Johnny Newland; and her beloved husband of 32 years, Ray Thomas Graham.
Frances leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories and is survived by her brother, JD Newland, Jr (and wife JoAnn) of Jenks; daughter, Danna Graham Garland (and husband Ray) of Jenks ; son, Jeff Graham (and wife Cindy) of Jenks; granddaughter Celeste Fisher of Sapulpa; grandson Jeff Graham, Jr. of Oklahoma City; granddaughter Kelsey (and husband Stephen) Heggy of Yukon; granddaughter Kylie Garland of Jenks; granddaughter Mickaela (and husband Reed) Ellard of Yukon; granddaughter Keaton (and husband Paul) Thomas of Bozeman, MT; granddaughter Karson (and husband Parker) Gourd of Jenks; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service to honor Frances's life will be held on May 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Schaudt Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service Chapel, followed by a graveside service at Bixby Cemetery in Bixby, Oklahoma, with Pastor Brayden Buss officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Graham, Jeff Graham, Jr., Ray Garland, Reed Ellard, Heath Newland and Nick Williamson.
