Frances Hicks Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hillside Chapel, Inc. on Feb. 25, 2026.
Frances Hicks was born in Crosbyton, Texas on November 11, 1926 to Clive & Miriam Reynolds. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 21, 2026. She is preceded in death by her husband Norman Hicks, her sister Jane Bilberry, her brothers Neil and Bob Reynolds, and her grandson Mark Pearson.

After graduating from Petersburg High School in Texas, Frances married Norman Hicks on January 12, 1945. They began their life together in Dallas, Texas, where they purchased their first home. In 1949, they moved with members of Frances' family to Riddle, Oregon. After several years working for a lumber company, they relocated to Oregon City, Oregon.

Frances and Norman were devoted members of the Oregon City Church of Christ, faithfully attending from the 1950s until declining health prevented them from doing so. Norman served as an elder for 30 years, and Frances faithfully supported this ministry. She also dedicated decades to teaching in the children's ministry, nurturing generations of young hearts with patience and love.

Frances and Norman raised 3 children: James Ronald Hicks (spouse, Sharon), Vicki Karen Wardius, and Debbie Jaynice Pearson. They had 4 grandchildren: Nika David (Chuck), Brandon Hicks (Jodie), Mark Pearson, Jake Pearson (Amber) and 7 great grandchildren: Chase O'Brien, Preslee Moody (Luke), Carson Dial (Colby), Paris Hicks, Dallas Hicks, and Logan and Remi Pearson. Frances also was blessed with 4 great-great grandchildren: Kynlee & Hadlee Moody, and Cohen & Wyatt Dial.

Throughout her life, Frances blessed her family with her remarkable gift for sewing, creating everything from wedding dresses to costumes. She enjoyed crafting, camping, oil painting, reading, and playing games, and those who knew her knew she was playing to win!

The memorial service for Frances will be livestreamed for those unable to attend. To watch the memorial service livestream:
