Frances Ellen Knaub, age 87 years, passed away peacefully with her family on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Bay City Comfort Care. She was born on June 30, 1937 in Bay City, the daughter of the late Walter and Ellen (Andrukatus) Zielinski. On May 11, 1968 she was united in marriage to Richard Charles Knaub and after 44 years together he preceded her in death on May 21, 2012. Frances worked diligently being a wife and mother as well as holding a fulltime position at Prestolite. She was a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
Surviving family include her son, Darren Daniel Knaub as well as her niece, Ellen (Ken) Helminiak and nephews, Dennis (Holly) Swincicki and Richard (Pam) Swincicki; sisters-in-law, Shirley Gillespie, Judy Langland and Janet Knaub. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; sisters, Margaret (Arthur) Zielinski and Rose (Al) Marie Swincicki and nephew, Thomas Zielinski.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May, 30, 2025 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Bay City. The Rev. Timothy Jahn will officiate. Private burial will take place at Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider McLaren Hospice/The McLaren Foundation. The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the staff at Bay City Comfort Care for their loving care of Frances and her family.
