Life of Reflection

A TIME TO BE BORN: Mrs. Frances Mae Lamar was born on March 13, 1934. She was the youngest of six children, born to the late Chester Mitchell Sr. and Mozella Mitchell, who both preceded her in death.

A TIME TO PLANT AND SERVE: Mrs. Lamar attended school in her small community of Flemington, Florida, and began working at an early age. During her years of growth and service, she became a devoted member of Mt. Pedro Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended services and served on the Mother Board. She also held the role of Vice President of the Missionary Committee. Mrs. Frances was one of the founding members of the local Black History Month Black and White Ball and was an active member of the Gordon Prayer Band. She was an inspiration to her family and friends who knew her best. She worked at Franklin Crates in Micanopy, Florida, for over 35 years. After retirement, she continued her life of service as a caregiver. She enjoyed gardening, Saturday outings with family and friends, watching game shows, doing puzzles, and spending meaningful time with her family and close friends.

A TIME TO DEPART: The Lord called her home on January 21, 2026. Isaiah 40:31 "But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."

A TIME TO BE EMBRACED: Mrs. Frances Mae Lamar was united in marriage on April 29, 1955, to the late George Lamar. They shared 45 years of marriage and were blessed with 11 children. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Robertson, and her daughter, Gloria Reaves. She leaves to cherish her memory her surviving children: Daughter Florine Williams (Booker) of Reddick, Florida; Sons George Lamar of Reddick, Florida, Alphonso Lamar (Katrina) of Ocala, Florida, Earnest Lamar (Evelyn) of Ocala, Florida, Gregory Lamar of Reddick, Florida, Tyrone Keith Lamar (Sharone) of Ocala, Florida, and Stacey Lamar of Orange Lake, Florida; and Daughters Latwanita Stafford (Grady) of Reddick, Florida, and Carrol Lamar-Postell of Tampa, Florida. She also leaves to carry on her legacy 30 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren. She leaves cherished memories with her sister, Fannie Vance, and her brother, Chester Mitchell Jr. (Cora). She is also survived by her goddaughters, Lacey Coney and Valerie Morgan; and special daughters Madolynne Martin-Lamar, Carolyn West (Paul), Doris Jackson-Gordon, Petra Lamar (Harold), Gloria Bowers, Carla Cave (Brandon), Doris Robinson (Dennis), Gayle Swift (Mark), Josephine Williams, and Joyce Suggs (Joseph).

A TIME TO BE HONORED AND REMEMBERED: Mrs. Frances Mae Lamar was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was a pillar of her community and was loved by all who knew her. She was one of the last surviving elders of her community in Reddick, Florida.
