Frances Marchesani Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Craft Givnish Funeral Home Inc on May 5, 2025.
Frances Marchesani, 75, of Abington Township, Pennsylvania entered into eternal rest as she peacefully passed away on May 2, 2025. Fran was a wife, mother, Nonna, sister, aunt, and loyal friend to many.
She was born in Philadelphia on March 23, 1950 to the late Louis and Carmella (DiFilippo) Marchesani. Fran was married to the late Francis Oppman for 42 years. She is preceded by her brother Nick Marchesani and sister Irene Kramarenko. She is survived by her brother Louis (Joan) Marchesani, her sister Carol (Glenn) Davis, her daughter Francie (Philip) Iannuzzi, and her two grandsons: Philip John (PJ) and Francis James (Frankie).
Fran grew up in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia where she attended Incarnation Elementary School and graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1968. She worked at Cigna for many years and retired in 1989 to take on her new role as mom. Throughout her life she had many occupations including teacher, rectory chef, numerologist and card reader.
It doesn't matter what you knew her by: Frances, Fran, She Fran, Aunt Frannie, Mom, Nonna; everyone knew her to be a strong-willed, eccentric and unique individual loved by all. She enjoyed sipping on a glass of red wine, watching a good show, reading a book, and cooking. She loved playing pinochle, gossiping with family and friends and always looked forward to her trips to Wildwood, New Jersey. She was happiest when entertaining family and friends as long as you stayed out of her kitchen.
Relatives and friends are encouraged to offer words of comfort and share memories of Fran. Her memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 535 Rhawn St, Philadelphia, PA 19111. The viewing will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by a mass service at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at Lawnview Cemetery, and a Life Celebration will follow at La Voglia Italian Restaurant in Warminster, PA.
