Frances M. McCort, 92, of Barnesville passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital. Frances was born on December 30, 1930 in Barnesville to the late John N. and Leota M. (Davis) Martin.
Frances is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Temperanceville, Ohio and the Catholic Women's Club where she had previously served as the secretary. She had worked as a secretary for Hanlon Paper Company and as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell before she had her family. She was active in volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul and also Barnesville Hospital where she was a member of the Mistletoe Twig.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Justin McCort on November 7, 1999; a son, Mark McCort; and a brother, Gene Martin.
Frances is survived by her children: John (Tammy) McCort of Barnesville, Melanie McCort of Columbus; and Patricia (Tim) VanFossen of Barnesville; two grandchildren: Ryan McCort and Brandi (Sam) McCort Bailey; three great-grandchildren: Connor, Alania and Tyler Bailey; brothers, Donald (late Olive) Martin and Kenneth (Carol) Martin; brother-in-law, Donald Moore; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 6pm until the time of the vigil service at 7:45pm at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 11am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Temperanceville with Father Dave Cornett officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
