Frances Marion Henderson Parmelee, born on February 17, 1953, in Winchester, Massachusetts, to Lee and Ruth Henderson, passed away on November 17, 2025.

A longtime member of the Cashiers and Highlands communities, she poured her energy into the places and people around her. She founded Chapter 2 Bookstore in Cashiers and owned Cabins in the Laurel, creating spaces that welcomed neighbors, visitors, and book lovers alike. Over the years she also contributed her talents to Wit's End and The Laurel Magazine in Highlands, as well as the Crossroads Chronicle in Cashiers.

She loved the natural beauty of the mountains she called home, and spent time hiking local trails, gardening, and traveling. She also devoted time to volunteering and was an avid reader throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Ruth Henderson, and by dear friends Kathy Lundgren, Tina Glidden, Michelle Ghijselinck, and Debbie Randall. She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Parmelee.

Following cremation, a celebration of Fran's life will be celebrated at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society, PO Box 638, Cashiers, NC 28717.
