Jean Wright, 81, of Franklin, NC, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026. She was born in Batavia, New York, March 15, 1944, to the late John Skinner and Alleda Calhoun Skinner.
Jean counseled people and worked with elderly and the unhoused. She touched many people's lives & made their day brighter. She loved reading, art, and writing, publishing several short stories.
Throughout her illnesses she kept her faith. She was truly at peace and believed in the Lord and His son, Jesus.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Wright.
She is survived by her son, William "Russ" Wright; her daughter, Samantha Messer (Steven); four grandchildren, Alleda Wright, Dylan Cannon, John Ashton Gordon and Byron Gordon; sister, Alice McConnaughey; niece, Christina Hughes; and many good friends.
A memorial service will be held Monday, March 16, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Union United Methodist Church with Rev. Janet Greene officiating.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers to give to Bryant-Grant Funeral Home, 105 W. West Main St. Franklin, NC 28734. Any extra monies after costs will be donated to No Wrong Door, Jean's charity of choice.
