Frances Perla Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Funeral Home - Fanwood on Dec. 17, 2025.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Frances Perla on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
Frances passed away surrounded by her family inside her home in Fanwood, NJ. The cause of death was Stage 4 lung cancer.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Francis and Louise Licata, and had a happy childhood in Bensonhurst; where she met and married her childhood sweetheart Vincent Perla. Within three years of marriage and after her husband's service for the Korean war; the growing family, decided to settle in Brentwood, Long Island. They enrolled their children in the local schools and attended the Parish of St Annes. The Perla family loved living close to the water and spent summers with friends water skiing, crabbing, and swimming near Sag Harbor, Long Island.
Frances in her late twenties worked at McGraw Hill, a publishing company in New York City. After her children graduated from college, Fran wanted to be close to her mother and the rest of her family in Westfield and the couple settled in Fanwood, NJ. It was there that Fran became a successful Real Estate agent at Coldwell Banker in Westfield. She loved meeting new clients and made many happy with their selection of a new home.
Frances is predeceased by her husband, Vincent. She is survived by her three children and a favorite granddaughter. She will be missed by so many friends and family.
Visitation will be from 9:00am to 11:00 am at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood on Saturday December 27.
A Funeral Mass will be held following the visitation at 11:30am at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church, 2032 Westfield Ave., Scotch Plains, where she was a parishioner for over 30 years
