Joann Violano Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Funeral Home - Fanwood on Mar. 13, 2026.
It is with deep and profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of Joann Pawlick Violano on March 2, 2026, in the town of Poinciana, Florida after relocating there from Hillsborough, New Jersey. She was a loving spouse to her husband of 40 years, Gary, and beloved sister to Roseann Fleming, Betty Biondi and husband John, Joseph Pawlick and wife Carol. She was also A.J. to six nieces and three nephews, as well as a great aunt to their seventeen children.

Joann was born in Bayonne NJ, the home of Hassets Bar and Grille, and eventually moved to the mile-square town of Fanwood which is where she grew up. She graduated from Scotch Plains Fanwood High School and subsequently attended Trenton State College. Her entire professional career was spent working for the railroads, including Penn Central and Amtrak, until her retirement in 2010. She was a Professional Administrative Assistant, although many of those she worked for referred to her as "the boss"

Joann's two greatest joys in life were spending time with family and friends and traveling with them to places such as Hawaii, Italy, Spain, the Outer Banks, Napa and Tahoe. She was a voracious reader, evident by her collection of books, and was also somewhat of a security expert when it came to home and vacation accommodations. St. Peter need not worry about unauthorized entry into heaven with Joann around.

If there are vanilla wafers, mashed potatoes, and apple sauce where Joann is today, she truly is in heaven.

We will be gathering to share our memories and good feelings about Joann at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood NJ on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 1 to 4 PM.

In lieu of flowers, we would ask that you consider a donation to the Pulmonary Hypertension Society so that others may be helped in fighting this crippling condition. https://phassociation.org/get-involved/ways-to-give/sustainers-circle/
