Frances Laverne Richardson

Frances Laverne Richardson, 82, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab in Mount Carmel, Illinois. She was born on September 1, 1943, in Keensburg, Illinois, the daughter of William Lewis and Doyne (Newkirk) Mcgrew. Laverne married Hollis Richardson who preceded her in death on November 20, 2003.

Laverne deeply loved her family and especially cherished the time she spent with her granddaughter. She enjoyed shopping and found happiness in having family dinners at her sister, Diana's. Laverne also loved swimming and taking trips to the beach. Laverne worked for many years as a bartender at the local clubs, where she formed lasting friendships. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Laverne will be remembered by her son, Melvin Richardson and wife, Amanda; and granddaughter, Cloia Richardson.

Laverne was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sister, Diana Newkirk; and brother, Roger Douglas.

A private burial will be held at Maumee Cemetery in Johnson, Indiana.
