Francisca Chavez was born November 2, 1929 to parents Leonardo H. Chavez and Matilde M. Chavez. She is preceded in death by parents Leonardo H. Chavez, Matilde M. Chavez, husband Jose Sanchez, siblings Candelaria, Lucy, Juanita, Bernie, and granddaughter Rose Sanchez. She passed peacefully surrounded by family on November 28, 2024.
Growing up the family worked in the agriculture fields in Arizona. She had two older sisters she admired, Candelaria and Juanita. Frances enjoyed dressing up in the modest styles, even making her own beautiful dresses. Her warm, cheerful personality was a gift to everyone she met, lighting up any room with her radiant smile and joyful spirit.
In 1956 at the age of 26 Frances and her family moved from Arizona to the Salinas Valley continuing to work in the ag fields. They first came to King City and then settled in Salinas where they would call home. Eventually she met her husband Jose M. Sanchez and raised a family of eight children, Diane, Lillian, Cecilia, Mario, Jenner, Arthur, Michael, Edward and stepson Jose Sanchez. The family grew quickly with the birth of the triplets in July 1962. Word got out and within days the local newspaper placed the family on the front page.
Needless to say her love of family was priority but also her joy and happiness in life; it carried her through to the age of 95. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren brought renewed joy. We remember her encouraging words to us, "rise and shine".
In her later years, Frances took great pleasure in tending to her colorful garden of flowers, a labor of love made all the more special with the help of her family.
We will miss our beautiful mother dearly. We could not have asked for a more peaceful passing surrounded by family. We take comfort in knowing Frances is resting in peace and in God's memory to be reunited with family. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5 from 11am-2pm followed by burial at Garden of Memories at 2pm.
