Frances Kuulei Beirne Teshima passed away in Layton, Utah on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born on July 3, 1940, in Honolulu to Joseph Francis Beirne and Victoria Kawohi Kailiuli Beirne. She married Frank Karl Teshima, Jr in 1958. Kuulei is survived by their six children, Leni (Kell) Tanabe, Frank (Lisa) Teshima, III, Heidi (Rick) Lambert, Sonya (Joseph) Mauai, Minette Ngalu, and Tehani (Joeli) Kama, 35 grandchildren, and more than 50 great grandchildren. Kuulei attended Fern Elementary and Kalakaua Middle Schools in Kalihi and graduated from Kamehameha Schools in 1958. Kuulei, Karl and their children lived on the different islands of Maui, Molokai and Lanai and finally built and settled in Kihei in 1975. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Kuulei and Karl served as full time missionaries in the California Oakland Mission from 1999-2001. She served again at the Temple and Family History Headquarters Mission in Salt Lake City, Utah from 2013-2015. Kuulei retired as head cook of the Maui Tropical Plantation in the early 1990s and is well known for her cooking and baking pumpkin pies, cakes and bread. She enjoyed feeding people, knitting baby blankets, watching movies, reading, and listening to Hawaiian Music. She cared for many and loved her family. But her grandchildren were her joy. Funeral Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kihei Chapel at 169A Auhana Rd. Viewing will be from 8:30 to 10:15am. Service starts at 10:30 and burial will follow at Maui Memorial Park.
