Frances Virginia Vinson, age 98, of Boston, GA, passed away on March 6, 2026. Frances was born on April 7, 1927, in Doerun, GA, to loving parents Andrew and Izzie Tidwell. On November 25, 1947, she married the love of her life, Jim L. Vinson, at Salem Baptist Church, where they became long-time members. Sadly, Jim preceded her in death on April 18, 2010.
Frances was known for her passion for gardening and her skill in making homemade jelly and jams. A lover of bluegrass music, she often found joy in attending concerts. Frances dedicated many years of her life to her work as a factory worker, retiring from Joan Art Mills. She was dedicated to her family, fondly known as "the brothers and sisters."
She is survived by her children, Larry Vinson, Marvin Vinson (Denise), and Sherri Vinson Gear (John), all of Boston, Georgia. She also leaves behind a cherished legacy of grandchildren-Billy, Karen, Amy-Chris, Susan, Blade, Christy, and Jason-and great-grandchildren-Nikki, Bobby, Wyatt, Dusty, Austin, Jordan, Cierra, Julie, Nicholas, and Hilton. She leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, Runnel Flowers of Bonifay, FL, and Shirley Wilson of Pavo, GA. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Izzie Tidwell, her husband, Jim Vinson, her great-grandson Michael, and her siblings Juanita, Gertrude, Katheryn, Retha Mae, James, W.D., Rozell, and Bobby Lee.
Funeral services for Frances will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 2 pm at Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Doug Thompson officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Allen & Allen Funeral Home from 5-7 pm.
