Frances Mary Vis

Frances Mary Vishio, age 89, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Fred S. Vishio and a devoted mother to Laura Schmid (Chris) and Fred Vishio (Tami).

Frances was predeceased by her sister Catherine Hainsworth.

Frances was a proud and loving grandmother to Christian Schmid (Brittany), Danielle Scarpitti, Fiona Vishio, and William Vishio (Kirstine), and a cherished great-grandmother to Delany, Ainsley, Christian, Amelia, Madison, and Gio.

Born and raised in the Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia, Frances was the daughter of William and Catherine Dolphin. She was a parishioner of Incarnation Church. She enjoyed playing basketball and graduated from Little Flower before attending nursing school.

Frances had a long and dedicated career in customer service, working for Hanscom's Bakery, Horn & Hardart, AP Orleans, her family's business, Excellent Answering Service, McClosky Varnish, and General Electric, where she ultimately retired. She was also an active member of several senior groups at St. Matthew's, St. Timothy's, and Johnson Memorial.

A passionate Philadelphia sports fan, Frances loved cheering on the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and 76ers. She also had a well-known sweet tooth, especially for her favorite treat-one scoop of round ice cream.

Frances was a bright and intelligent woman, remembered most for the strength, love, and steady support she gave to her family throughout her life.

Family and friends are invited to Frances' Life Celebration on Friday, March 10th, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19154. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Langhorne, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association.
