Frances "Fran" Evelyn Yahner (Gillen), 93, of Akron, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 09, 2025. She was born in Akron, Ohio on August 10, 1931, to the late Francis and Lillian Gillen. Fran was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alvin Yahner, her children Thomas Yahner, Ann Anderson and her great granddaughter Lillian Sonnhalter.
Fran was a retired librarian from Annunciation and St. Sebastian's Parish School where she served for her entire career. She enjoyed being with her family, classical music and reading books every day.
Fran will be missed dearly by her family. Mother to Julie Panis (Caryn), Jean Rakich (Carl), Mary Hassing (Joseph) and Catherine Murdock (David); grandmother "Dee/Deebird" to Paul Hassing, Brian Hassing (Annie), Melinda Filoia (Pat), Krista Sonnhalter (Joshua), Mary Cait Hassing, Jonathon Anderson, Christopher Anderson and Meghan Kane (Nick); nine great grandchildren and a host of extended family and dear friends.
A memorial mass will be held at 11am on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 476 Mull Avenue, Akron, OH 44320.
