Francesca Coiro

Francesca Coiro (Tierno) of Somerville passed away on January 20, 2024. She was 96 years old. Francesca was the beloved wife of the late Giuseppe Coiro. Born in Sant' Arsenio, Italy, she was the cherished daughter of the late Filomena (Abruzzio) and Giuseppe Tierno.
Francesca, along with her husband Giuseppe with their daughters Rosa and Maria immigrated to America in 1966. Francesca began working in the drapery industry folding and packaging curtains for shipment. In 1971, their third child, Sandra was born. After Sandra's birth, Francesca left the drapery industry to become a full time Mom. Francesca was a member of the Somerville Council on Aging Senior Center where she enjoyed taking many day trips with her friends from the senior center. She enjoyed traveling to any casino and enjoyed playing Bingo. Francesca loved to cook and share her homemade recipes, especially her pizzelles.
Francesca was the devoted mother of Rosa Botelho of Somerville, Maria Barletta and her husband Carlo of Stoneham and Sandra Coiro-Silva and her late husband Michael of Somerville. She was the adored grandmother of George J. Botelho, Jonathan Barletta and her feline grandchild Zackiesha Coiro-Silva and the loving great-grandmother of Sebastian and Penelope Barletta. Francesca was predeceased by her seven sisters and brothers. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, MA, Saturday, January 27, from 10AM-12PM, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home beginning at 12PM. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Northeast Animal Shelter 347 Highland Ave. Salem. MA. 01970.
Services will conclude with entombment in the Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Everett.
