Maria Mercogliano Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dello Russo Funeral Home - Medford on Feb. 13, 2026.
Maria Mercogliano, age 74, of Medford formerly of Boston's North End, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the North Shore Massachusetts General Hospital Medical Center following complications from surgery on October 6, 2025. She was the beloved wife for 54 years of John J. Mercogliano. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Evelyn (Manzelli) Gregorio.

Maria was raised and educated in the North End of Boston. Following her marriage to her beloved John, they lived briefly in Somerville before settling in Medford. Maria worked for nearly forty years as a dedicated Administrative Assistant to the President of the Cross Country Motor Group. When not working, Maria enjoyed cooking for her family, shopping, especially with her cherished granddaughters. She also enjoyed vacationing over the years, taking several trips to Las Vegas and trying her luck at the slot machines, as well as many trips to Italy. Maria will fondly be remembered for her strong will and fierce self-determination. However, her greatest joy was her family and nothing made her happier than when she was surrounded by family and those she loved most. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her beloved husband John, Maria is survived by her children; Kristy Perry and her husband Frank of Melrose, Jon D. Mercogliano and Mathew Mercogliano, both of Medford. She was the loving grandmother of Jillian and Madison Perry, both of Melrose and Isabella Mercogliano of Hyde Park. Cherished sister of Linda Chiulli of West Peabody. She is further survived by several loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday, February 21st, at 11 a.m. and visit with the family prior to the service from 9 :30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Services will conclude with interment at Medford's Oak Grove Cemetery.

To the most caring, thoughtful, and loving Nana I could have ever asked for, may you rest in heavenly peace. I miss you so so much. I´ll always miss our laughs, our shopping days, and coming over on Sundays for gravy. Thank you for showing me what unconditional love truly feels like. I will love you forever and always.

My nana was one of the most strong and kind hearted person I have met. She loved everyone important in her life so much. She loved being around family and especially taking my sister and I shopping and out to eat because it meant spending time with us. Her presence and energy is going to be missed greatly. I love you so much Nana!

My nana was one of the kindest and strongest people I have ever known and I will forever miss her and her energy. Nana always made me laugh, took me shopping ANYTIME we wanted to and would do anything just to spend time with me. I loved just talking to her about anything and I will forever miss doing that. My love for you will never go away and I know you will always be here with me. I love you so much Nana!
