Francesco Di Giorgio
Of Waltham, passed away on Saturday morning May 3, 2025 with his loving family by his side in Brigham & Women's Hospital after a period of declining health at the age of 89.
Born on April 28, 1936 in Pulcherini, Latina, Italy; son of the late Gerardo and Filippa (Lungo) Di Giorgio. Francesco was raised in Italy and immigrated to the United States as a young man in 1962 and has been a Waltham resident ever since.
Like many of his generation he was hardworking and determined to provide for his family as a Mason in the trades throughout his life. He was a skilled welder and mason working with his brother-in-law in his early years and for D'Agostino Masonry in Newton for many years.
Francesco's life revolved around his family and especially his grandchildren. He cherished the time spent with his family and loved the Sunday dinners while eating his wife Maria's amazing cooking. He enjoyed eating, taking the grandkids to McDonald's, working with his hands and building things for the house. He welded railings and other projects for his family's homes, and he was passionate about his garden.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Maria (Simeone) Di Giorgio; his devoted & loving sons Gerardo "Jerry" Di Giorgio and his wife Maria and Franco "Frank" Di Giorgio and his wife Rhonda of Waltham; his cherished grandchildren Sarah, Adriana, Nicholas, Isabella, Francesco, and Frankie Di Giorgio, Alyanna and Andrew Guliano; his in-laws Pasquale and Iolanda Simeone and family, and Antonietta and the late Gennaro and family. In addition, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Gerardo and Filippa and dear siblings Vincenza Di Giorgio Guliano and Maria Di Giorgio Mallozzi.
Those who wish to pay their respects to Francesco and his family can do so in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on WEDNESDAY May 7th from 4PM until 8PM. Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Francesco's life to remember the love and friendship he shared with so many in his lifetime at a Mass of Christian Burial on THURSDAY morning May 8th at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, WALTHAM at 10:30 am. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum in Waltham.
