Francesco Sciarrone, MD, 96 years old, of Stevens Point passed away on November 13, 2023, at the Portage County Health Center. He was born May 23, 1927, in Milanese di Calanna, (Province Reggio Calabria) Italy, to Antonio Sciarrone and Ferdinanda Forte.
Francesco had a classical high school education in Italy and completed medical studies at St. Louis University in the United States. He worked as a pathologist at St. Michael's Hospital, in Stevens Point, for over 30 years and also at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids for seven years.
Francesco married in Italy Giovanna Brancatisano, teacher of foreign languages, on December 19, 1965. Daria Sciarrone, MD is their only daughter.
One sister and two brothers preceded him in death and he is survived by nieces Carmela and Ferdinanda Milano, nephews Anthony and Joseph Sciarrone, Lillo and Anthony Milano and their children.
Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, concluding with a General Rosary, on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Shuda Funeral Home - 3200 Stanley Street, Stevens Point, WI. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on November 21, 2023, at Holy Spirit Parish - 2151 Stanley Street, Stevens Point. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point.
Memorial donations may be given to Operation Bootstrap; 5000 Heffron St., Stevens Point, WI 54481.
The family appreciates and is thankful for the support of Dr. Jarabek and Dr. Dotti and the wonderful care that all the staff of the Portage County Health Center and Compassus Hospice gave to Francesco during his stay there.
