Franchisca "Fran" Miner Obituary
Franchisca Miner, affectionately known as Fran, was born on December 31,1958 in Philadelphia, PA to Verona Miner (Greer) and the late Lloyd J. Miner III. She was the third of ten children: Charmette, Marsha, Franchisca, Lloyd IV, Joceleyn, Bryan, Jerrod, Damien, Angelique, and Sheldon.
Fran received her education in the Philadelphia school system attending Child's Elementary, Bartlett Junior High, Southern High School and graduating from William Penn High School in 1977, where she consistently excelled academically and enjoyed challenges.
After graduation, Fran spent time traveling the country attending rock concerts and the Daytona 500 while selling her unique silk screen fashions. Upon returning to Philadelphia, Fran was part of the dietician group providing meals to patients at Jefferson Hospital which began her passion for serving her family and community. She became an activist, actively participating in events such as the annual African Festival Odunde, and many other community initiatives focused on culture, health, and community well-being.
Driven by her passion for caregiving, she worked at the local YWCA, where she not only continued her caring work but also mentored and taught her family and friends about the importance of compassion and service. Fran even regularly employed family members and friends at the YWCA allowing them to demonstrate their compassion and service to others.
After moving to Delaware Fran was a nail technician while she was pursuing the certification of a mental health counselor. She dedicated many years to supporting individuals with physical and mental challenges, where she eventually retired.
In 1984 Fran's journey into motherhood began with the birth of her only child, Jamarr Galawish, who arrived prematurely and spent the first year of his life in the NICU. Fran dedicated every waking hour to be by his side, steadfastly rejecting negative medical prognoses for her son. She fought tirelessly for Jamarr, ensuring that despite his medical challenges, he would experience a life filled with love and dignity. Fran later met Clarence Muhammad, and together they took on the role as Jamarr's parents. Their commitment and nurturing spirits shaped Jamarr into a compassionate and loving individual. They shared many memorable, happy moments together. He was and will always be the joy of her life.
In her personal life, Fran found a life partner when she met Pablo Olivera on December 2, 1995. They married March 4, 2021 and made Delaware their home. On the weekends they cherished their time with their five grandchildren going fishing, having barbecues or just hanging out watching football and movies.
Fran was preceded in death by her father Lloyd J Miner III, sister Marsha Miner, and brother Jerrod Miner.
Fran is survived by her mother Verona, husband Pablo Olivera, only child Jamarr Galawish and his wife Krystal Galawish with their children Kamari and Kamiya Galawish, step daughter Pabnesia Zackery with her children, Milli'on Smith-Zachery, Maquel Pablo Smith-Zachery, and Michael Olivera Smith, siblings Charmette her husband Easton, Lloyd IV his wife Jennifer, Joceleyn, Angelique, Bryan, Damien, and Sheldon his wife Unique, along with a wide circle of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Franchisca Miner will be remembered for her unwavering strength, compassion, and dedication to her loved ones and community. Her legacy of love and service lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
