Francis Crowe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc on Jun. 9, 2024.
Francis Joseph Crowe Jr., 73, of South Coventry Township, PA, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024. He was the husband of Carol Anne Eggert, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage, and the proud father of Lauren, Madison, and Colin Eggert-Crowe.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on February 8, 1951, Fran was the son of the late Francis J. Crowe Sr. and Marie C. (Vogt) Crowe.
Fran graduated from Bishop Kenrick High School in 1969 before earning a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Penn State in 1973. He retired from Honeywell after 45 years as a firmware engineer, where he was the named inventor on multiple patents. He was an avid outdoor enthusiast, finding joy in backpacking, hiking, camping, cycling, kayaking, and disc golf. During high school and college he was an accomplished bowler and maintained an affinity for the sport throughout his life. He curated an extensive and varied record collection and could tell you a story about each album. Other milestones include building the family home, 25 years of volunteer service with Odyssey of the Mind, and walking over 400 miles of El Camino de Santiago. In recent years he continued to enjoy an active life, adapting to the difficulties of his Parkinson's diagnosis with strength and optimism. Most of all, Fran loved his family and friends. He was a warm and caring father, husband, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and son.
Fran is lovingly remembered by his wife, Carol Eggert; his children, Lauren Eggert-Crowe, Madison (Raymond Canzanese Jr.) Eggert-Crowe, and Colin (Elise) Eggert-Crowe; his granddaughter, Edna Eggert-Crowe Canzanese; and his siblings, MaryAnne (Ray) Crowe Mullen, Gerry (Sue Connor) Crowe, Christopher (Megan) Crowe, Timothy (Diane) Crowe, and Michael (Ellen) Crowe. Fran is also deeply missed by many other family members, including Carol's brothers and sisters, his nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends. All who cherished their time with him will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
In addition to his parents, Fran was predeceased by his sister, Sister Jeanne Crowe; and his nephew, Steven Crowe.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Life Celebration will follow at 11:00 a.m. A raucous outdoor gathering befitting Fran's unique personality will be held at a later date this summer.
A webcast of Fran's services will be available beginning at 11:00 a.m. Please visit https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/index.php?data=MTcxNzk1OTA1NDMxMzA0NyZvbmVyb29tLWFkbWluJmNvcHlfbGluaw== to view the webcast. If you have any questions, please call (610) 323-8220.

I worked with Fran at Honeywell. We shared a love of bicycling and enjoyed telling each other about suffering up the steep hills around the area. Fran was always friendly and kind in a quiet way. I am glad to have known him.
