Francis Paul Guy was born at Burbank Hospital, Fitchburg, MA on December 17, 1956. He lived in the Fitchburg area his entire life. Francis was a 1975 graduate of Fitchburg High School and was employed at various locations in the Fitchburg/Leominster, but the job he enjoyed the most was as a heavy equipment Operator/Supervisor for the State of Massachusetts MDC/DCR watershed division. Francis and Francine were married on October 8, 1978 and purchased their home in Fitchburg where they lived their entire married life. Francis is survived by his wife of 46 years, Francine (Auffrey), his children Marie (Christian) Hertl, Abraham (Rebecca) Guy, 2 grandchildren, Ayden and Ava Barrette, his brother Charles (Carole Lyman) Guy, his sisters Cynthia (William, deceased) Guy-Allen, Marsha (William) Pepper, and Brenda (Geoff) Harris, Brother-in-law Ed Oakley, siblings Joseph (Karen) Allen, Michael (Jennifer) Allen, Barbara (Ed) Bever, Dodie (Lothar) Huckaby, Shelly (Matthew) Saunders. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, William Guy and Margurerita (Balducci) Guy, his brother Theodore (Wendy) Guy, sister Sheila (Russell) Jackson, sister Sandra Peabody and brother-in-law John Peabody.

In his younger years, Francis enjoyed traveling and visiting historical monuments and civil war battlefields. Francis was a very religious person and devout Catholic and he particularly enjoyed a visit to Rome, Italy and Vatican City while on a cruise where he was able to experience first-hand many religious shrines and churches, as well as the Spanish Steps and the Trinita dei Monti church at the top. Francis loved spending time with his family, watching movies, playing games or finding recipes where everyone participated to create a delicious meal. He also enjoyed quiet time with his corgis, art projects of stippling and wood carving.

Francis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother to his extended family and his infectious smile, laughter and his wry sense of humor will be missed by everyone. Francis suffered from some physical ailments while he was with us, but now as he enters into the arms of God the Almighty, we who are left behind to grieve, understand that he is now free from all pain. “May the sunshine warm upon your face, may the rains fall upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of His hand”.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, Oct 4th at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd, Fitchburg, followed by burial prayers at St. Joseph Cemetery Pieta.
