Francis McGowan

Francis Patrick McGowan, born July 25, 1939 in the Bronx, New York, passed away on December 7, 2025. He lived most of his life in the Bronx and Eastchester, close to his family and the community he knew well. Frank was the son of William McGowan and Bridget Rooney McGowan, and the brother of Catherine Elizabeth McGowan. He married Ellen Marie Igoe McGowan in April 1968, and together they built a long life grounded in routine, family, and shared commitment. They remained married until her death in 2014. Frank was the father of Jenny Radigan and Billy McGowan, who were the center of his life. He worked for thirty five years at Texaco Oil Company in the communications division and was part of the early era of modern technology. He was steady, reliable, and proud of the work he did each day. Sports were an important part of Frank's life. He played football in high school and continued playing organized softball well into his fifties on a Texaco sponsored team. He passed that love of athletics on to his son, Billy, and spent many years supporting his involvement in sports. Frank remained connected to the Catholic Church throughout his life. He is survived by his two children and by eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren who will remember him with respect and affection. The family will receive friends in conjunction with his sister's visitation on Sunday December 14, 2025 from 2-6 PM at the Westchester Funeral Home , Inc. 190 Main St. Eastchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday December 15, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
