Michael Walzer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Westchester Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 9, 2025.
Michael T. Walzer of Grand Rapids, MI, peacefully passed away on December 7, 2025, at Broward Health North Hospital in Deerfield Beach, FL, surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born on April 27, 1969, in Pittsburgh, PA, to John and Barbara Walzer. In his early childhood, the family relocated to Miami, FL, before later establishing their home in Eastchester, NY. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Grammar School in Scarsdale, NY, and graduated from Fordham Preparatory School in 1987, where he formed lifelong friendships that remained central throughout his life. Michael went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Fordham University in 1991, proudly playing with the Ram Rugby Club. Later in life, he completed a Master's degree in Human Resources from Loyola University Chicago. Michael brought exceptional dedication and heart to everything he pursued. His natural ability to connect with others, combined with a steady work ethic, led him to a successful career in financial sales, where he rose to serve as Vice President at Goldman Sachs. The resilience and determination that defined his professional life were the same qualities that carried him through the challenges of chronic illness. Beyond his career, Michael was a devoted and loving father. His greatest joy in life was his two children, Michaela and Colin. He also cherished his dogs, Toby and Bailey. The family lived in New York, Milwaukee, WI, and later Grand Rapids, MI. One of Michael's favorite activities was taking his children to Milwaukee Brewers games, a tradition that became one of their most cherished memories. In Grand Rapids, he deepened his Catholic faith and cultivated many meaningful relationships through his involvement in the Church.

Michael had a lifelong love for the ocean. Some of his happiest summer days were spent body-surfing in Montauk and sharing that joy with his children. His adventurous spirit led him to become certified in scuba diving, and he also pursued his aviation license, finding exhilaration in his solo flights. Michael was predeceased by his mother, Barbara, and is survived by his devoted father, John; his children, Michaela and Colin; his brother, John Walzer III (Lori); and his beloved nephew and niece , Jack and Ryan.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Westchester Funeral Home, 190 Main Street, Eastchester, NY 10709. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Scarsdale, NY 10583.
