Leonard Hoffman

It is with great sadness we share the passing of Leonard Hoffman of New Rochelle, New York on January 23, 2026 at the age of 95. He was predeceased by his adored parents, Dorothy and Sam Hoffman, loving sister, Rona Hoffman Kurz, and his constant Airedale terrier companions, Tom and Derry.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Leonard spent his early adult years in Sherman Oaks, California before making New Rochelle, NY his longtime home. He graduated from Rutgers University where he joined ROTC, and ultimately served in the United States Air Force.

In Leonard's younger years, he was an equestrian, avid cyclist, antique collector, show dog handler and groomer, and throughout his life a man who valued all creatures. He found joy in playing the harmonica, listening to classical music and closely following world current events. He was a wonderful conversationalist who could discuss nearly any topic. This is how we will remember Leonard.

Along with his sister Rona, he founded Of Cabbages and Kings, a gallery in Mamaroneck, New York that sold fine American crafts. He appreciated the artistry of handcrafted functional pieces and had an impressive collection of antique lanterns and fine Southwestern silver, especially turquoise and silver jewelry and belt buckles. Leonard is survived by his nieces and nephew, Susan Kurz Eleftheriakis, Jane Kurz Klemmer and Peter Kurz and his longtime neighbor, friend and ultimately caregiver, Barbara Watson.
