Thomas R. Hamilton

Thomas R. Hamilton, a resident of Oak Lawn, passed away on February 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Tom graduated from Rutgers University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He bravely served two tours in Vietnam and dedicated 32 years to his country, retiring in 2000 with the rank of Captain. Following his military service, Tom enjoyed a successful career with Xerox Corporation. Tom was the beloved husband of Patricia (nee Soss); devoted father of Thomas (Amy) Hamilton and Kathleen (Mike) Regan; and cherished brother of Daniel Hamilton. He was the dear son of the late Thomas and Victoria (nee Nizio). His greatest joy in life was his family. Tom was the "No. 1 fan" of his grandchildren: Maeve, Seamus, Kevin, Patricia, Lexi, and Cali. He rarely missed a sports game and spent his retirement traveling, golfing, and cheering from the sidelines. A man of deep faith, Tom was an active member of St. Germaine Church, serving as a Eucharistic and Lay Minister, and volunteering with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the parish food pantry. Tom will be remembered for his quick wit, his immense generosity, and his unwavering devotion to his faith and family.
