John Maher

John Maher passed away on November 1, 2025, after a very brief illness at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York City. John was 71 years old.
John was a longtime New Rochelle resident and a graduate of Blessed Sacrament School ('68) and Fordham Preparatory School ('72).
After a year at Oneonta State College, John packed up his car and journeyed across the country in search of adventure. After settling into the New Rochelle and Pelham area, he launched his 25-year career as a motion picture and television electrician with Local 52 of IATSE. His first position, in 1995, was as a studio electrician on Guiding Light. Over the years, he worked on hundreds of television episodes-including Law & Order, Blue Bloods, and many others-as well as numerous films in the New York City area.
John was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by four siblings, Theresa Maher, Andrew Maher (Susan), Catherine Smith (Edward), and Eileen Illuzzi (Vincent); nine nieces and nephews; and eight grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Christopher, mother Elizabeth (Gries) Maher, and father John F. Maher.
