Francis J. Nessel passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at the age of 92. He was the beloved husband of 71 years to Adele (née Radl), and the devoted father of Frank Nessel (Lori), Lynne Nessel-Killion (Bob), Mark Nessel (Christine), Christopher Nessel (Kimberly), Lisa Nessel, and Matt Nessel. A loving Pop-pop to 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, Frank also leaves behind his cherished siblings Rev. William Nessel, OSFS, and Rosemarie Graham, and will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles and Leonard.
Born in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Philadelphia to William and Claire Nessel, Frank was a proud graduate of North Catholic High School, Class of 1950. He dedicated 30 years to Richardson-Vicks, retiring as a Systems Engineer.
A man of deep faith, Frank was a devout parishioner of St. Anselm's Church since its founding in 1962. He served as past-President of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, sang in the choir, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Frank was a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, but his greatest joy was his family. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather whose legacy will live on through all who knew and loved him.
