Francisca Rojas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by De Riso Funeral Home - Brooklyn on Jan. 31, 2026.
It is with a heavy heart and profound reverence that I bid farewell to an incredible woman, my grandmother, Francisca Rojas. Paquita, a beacon of love, resilience, and dedication, was born on July 30, 1924, in the charming town of Naguabo, Puerto Rico. Her life journey ended on January 28, 2026, in Staten Island, New York, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in our hearts.

Francisca was a fiercely loving woman who faced adversity with unyielding resilience. Widowed at a tender age of 51, she suffered the loss of her husband, Cruz Rojas, followed by the tragic loss of her son Jose Rojas, daughter Carmen Rojas and grandson Damien Rojas in a span of just three years. Yet, her spirit remained unbroken. Her generous heart found solace in caring for me, her grandson. She took on the role of my guardian after the untimely death of my mother, Carmen Rojas. Her dedication to my upbringing was extraordinary; it was her love and unwavering support that shaped me into the person I am today. Reflecting on her life, a quote by Helen Keller springs to mind, "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved."

Francisca's memory will be cherished by those she has left behind, particularly me, her grandson, and her daughter Edna Dejesus. She joins her dearly departed, her husband Cruz Rojas, her father Eulogio Soto, her mother Cenen Delgado, her son Jose Rojas her daughter Carmen Rojas, and her grandson Damien Rojas in a place of eternal peace and rest. The viewing will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at DeRiso Funeral Home in Brooklyn, New York. Francisca will be laid to rest on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Rosehill Cemetery in Linden, New Jersey.

Francisca's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and generosity. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. Please feel free to share your memories, stories, and photos of Francisca on her memorial page. Your tributes will serve as a comforting reminder of the beautiful soul that she was.
