Franco Checchi Obituary
Franco's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with his passion for cooking and the many people he touched through his work as a chef at various restaurants in the Burlington area. His culinary talent and dedication were matched only by his warmth and generosity, which endeared him to all who had the pleasure of working with him and sharing his table.
He is survived by his devoted parents, Franco and Roseanna Checchi; his beloved sister Heidi Lavinia Checchi (Remo Ardigo); his loving brother Giancarlo Enrico Checchi (Bridget Checchi); and his cherished niece Victoria Lavinia Ardigo and nephew Tomaso Arigo Ardigo. Franco also leaves behind a wide network of family members both in Vermont and Italy who hold his memory close to their hearts.
In addition to his family, Franco was deeply devoted to his canine companion, Bella, who was a constant and cherished presence by his side.
Franco's unique free spirit will be fondly remembered by his special roommates, Mark, John, and Liam, who shared many moments of camaraderie and laughter with him along with many other friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Rio and Kathy Girelli and other family members and friends for their unwavering support and hospitality during this challenging time.
Special thanks to Dr. Heidi Yeh and Team in Boston and to Dr. Wayne Warnken and Staff at the Community Health Center in Burlington. Also to the wonderful Staff at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester.
In honoring Franco's memory, we celebrate his life's rich flavors, the bonds he forged, and the legacy he leaves behind. His spirit will forever be part of the kitchens he graced and the hearts he touched. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A mass will be held at the Holy Cross Church in Colchester, VT, on Monday 8/19 @ 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the McClure Miller Respite House, 3113 Roosevelt Hwy, Colchester, Vermont, 05446.

There are a lot of fond/fun memories I have of this amazing guy! We went to grade school together at St. Monica and he sat behind me in Miss Fry's class and he was always whispering to me and busting my chops. His humor was infectious and I got to see him and have a deep conversation with him 3 years ago when I went home. I could've talked with him for hours..... I have letters he wrote to me from Italy in 1986 ( we corresponded a bit ) and they'll hold a deep special place in my heart.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Franco over the last few years (we were neighbors).
Franco brought a warm vibe to interactions I had with him. I enjoyed stopping by his house to say hi to him and Bella. He was always asking about my boys and had a kind spirit. A great guy that we will miss.

Le mie condoglianze alla famiglia di Franco, che non ho mai incontrato, ma che credo fosse l'unica altra persona con il mio cognome residente in Vermont. Ho sentito parlare di Franco la prima volta da persone che erano compagni di scuola di Heidi alla Spaulding High School. Successivamente ne ho sentito parlare da diverse altre persone che mi raccontavano del suo lavoro come ottimo chef a Burlington. Da allora ho sempre sperato di incontrarlo e conoscerlo. Aprendo il giornale questa mattina ho trovato la triste notizia della sua dipartita. Un abbraccio ai famigliari di Franco, conosciuto solo attraverso le buone parole di chi lo conosceva.
