Francoise H. Lomont Rice, 86, of Strange Creek went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
She was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France on January 30, 1937, to the late Edgar Lomont and Germaine Robineau Lomont.
Francoise was married to her husband in 1974. She was a creative person who when she was younger was an artist. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. From her porch she fed and watched many hummingbirds. She enjoyed the animals and being outside. She raised a calf and a baby deer. Francoise was a member of the Eureka United Methodist Church, Keener's Ridge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Rice, who passed away May 20, 2000; stepsons, Ronnie and Tommy Rice; sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Henrietta Rice; brothers-in-law, Glen and Bernard Rice.
She is survived by her niece, Gracie M. Ball and husband, Charlie, of Strange Creek; step daughter, Darlene Brown of Denver, Colorado; brother, Gilbert Lomont of France; grandchildren, Richard Brown, Chad Rice, and Mindy Rice; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; niece, Lidia Lomont of Port Vendres, France; cousin, Adrienne Robineau of Port Townsend, Washington; best friends, Terry and Jeannie Colleran of Georgia; and several more nieces and nephews.
Her graveside service will be 1 P.M. Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Eureka Church Cemetery, Strange Creek with Reverend Ray Teets officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Francoise requested memorial donations be made to Eureka Church, c/o Martha Young, 1900 Upper Mill Creek Rd., Frametown, WV 26623.
