Publish in a newspaper

Frank R. Allen, age 82, of Oakwood, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Beloved husband of 56 years to Geraldine (Swartzlander) Allen. Loving father of Brian (Dana) Allen, Laura "Kate" (Ed) Cygnarowicz, Megan (Mark) Johnson, Nancy (Jeff) Ziegler, and Mary Allen; cherished grandfather of Nolan, Brendan, Connor, Kaitlyn, Nathan, Maksym, Dale, Dani (Jake), Anna, Allen, and Mary Addison; brother of Andrew (Dea) Allen and Mary Jo (John) Sheridan. Frank was preceded in death by his parents Andrew "Vinnie" and Nancy (Riddle) Allen. Frank was a devout Catholic and deeply involved at St. Philip Parish in Crafton. He was past president of the church council, taught CCD classes for over 30 years, and was a lector for 15 years. Frank volunteered as a big brother for The Big Brothers Big Sisters Youth Organization for 7 years and was also a volunteer at The Little Sisters of the Poor for 5 years. In any situation, in any type of crowd, Frank always went out of his way to make a stranger feel welcomed. Nothing was more fulfilling to him than moments gathered around the dining room table with family and friends where playing games, singing, and yes, even dancing on the table frequently occurred! He bowled the majority of his life and especially enjoyed time with the guys in the Hungry Club league as well as the Oakwood Couples bowling league. Frank was also known for his Pittsburgh Steelers porch parties and enormously long storytelling. Relatives and friends received Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 1-8 PM at SCHEPNER-McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 165 Noble Avenue, Crafton. Funeral prayer Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 11:15 AM at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12 PM in St, Philip Catholic Church, 50 W. Crafton Avenue, Crafton. Interment in The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Frank's memory may be made to NFCA, P.O. Box 14185, Pittsburgh, PA 15239 (www.nfpittsburgh.org) or Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 (www.littlesistersofthepoorpittsburgh.org).
